well... it sort of works? The companion face sets to default male face as soon as you "recruit" them, no matter the gender or their former face preset. When closing and opening the game the companion loses all textures and is invisible unless I kill them. That, and the minimap disappearing permamently, but since the author has no idea why that happens it doesn't seem like there's going to be a fix

managed to force gears.log to get created - https://pastebin.com/65km7dSf the steering wheel menu still says that device [-1] is not connected, but when I try to assign any wheel button/axis in the
analog input" sub-menu, i.e. throttle, the game freezes for 10 seconds, then assigns correctly, lists the g29 as device [0] and I can press/depress the throttle and can see that the numbers are moving, but the previous menu page still says that device [-1] is disconnected
^actually, the 5.4.2 version DID create a gears.log (https://pastebin.com/BCMtD98b), the newer ones don't. The wheel did get initialized as seen in the log, but the menu still said "No device", despite listing it right below in bright green color.

Problem: Every time I enable/disable manual transmission (first box in the menu) the game freezes for a solid 15-20 seconds, then it's a coinflip if it changed or not + the wheel sub-menu says "device is not found (disconnected) [-1]", despite it being listed right below (the first launch of the menu says Logitech G29 etc. "this device can be used as an input device")
Already tried:
- reinstalling the game
- reinstalling the logitech software
- trying a different game (it works)
- launching the game/logitech software as admin
- removing the Read-only checkbox from the whole game folder, subfolders and files
- trying an earlier version of the mod
- trying a different usb port
To be clear - this mod worked for me without issues back when 5.4.2 version was the latest, but now every version has the same problem
I did change my motherboard between then and now, but I don't see the correlation.
